Public invited to help clean up streams
Individuals, families, Scouts, churches, students, businesses and civic groups are invited to help clean up the Upper Raritan River and its tributaries on Saturday, April 17. Last year, volunteers collected and disposed of roughly 300 pounds of trash per site, most of it in the form of plastic bags and bottles.
Volunteers are needed to help at sites from 9 a.m. to noon in Bedminster, Peapack-Gladstone, Branchburg, Lebanon, Far Hills and Chester. Additional locations may be added depending on interest from community members.
The Upper Raritan Watershed Association is sponsoring this effort in conjunction with a number of community agencies and businesses. Garbage bags, gloves and litter sticks will be provided to all volunteers. For more information or to sign up, e-mail Lauren Theis at ltheis@urwa.org or call 908- 234-1852, ext. 12.
