NJ native Rick Porcello to make first start at Yankee Stadium
At various points in his development as a pitcher, Rick Porcello has pitched in front of his family, his closest friends and his most trusted coaches. But the former Seton Hall Prep star admitted on Wednesday that he couldn't recall a time when all of those people would be in the stands at the same time.
That all will change Thursday, when the Tigers right-hander starts against the Yankees, in his first appearance at Yankee Stadium.
"I'm looking forward to pitching in front of my family, they'll all be here," said Porcello, a native of Chester, N.J. "I'll have a lot of friends here, high school coaches and guys I grew up playing with will be here to watch. In that regard, it will be special."
