Sweet Spot Bake Shoppe: Little nuggets of delirious sweetness and light

Sweet Spot owner Cheryl Burger grew up in Long Valley. Since college, she had been selling title insurance, working in the closing end of the real estate business, and her sister Carolyn was working in TV.

“I grew up baking, my sister’s talent was for decorating, and we always talked about opening a place like this,” Cheryl says. “We were both dissatisfied with our careers and decided ‘it’s now or never.’ We opened February 2010 and couldn’t have been more fortunate — we took off running right out of the gate and haven’t stopped.”

I decided to try this place out the other day. The aroma of the shop was wonderful. I bought 6 of the regular sized cupcakes. They are really good. Very dense, "real" (not cake-mix) cupcakes. They have real substance, and NO preservatives. I know this because after 1 day they started to go a bit stale (no problem for me, I'll eat them anyway). A little more frosting than I needed but I just took some off. Delicious and I wish them the best of luck in their new digs.

Be sure to try the cupcake truffles too......little bits of cupcake mixed with icing....oh, heavenly. Red velvet is my fave.
