Puddingstone Inn reopening as Larison's Steak House?
One more shot at doing something with a great location?

Good Luck! Hope it is not as horrible as the Publick House which the owner's also own.
Keep calling the number and there is no answer... I agree Hope its MUCH better then the Publick House!
We had supper there last week. It started with awful rolls, but the rest was fine. However, for being called a steakhouse, it only offered a couple steaks. I would have thought they would have tried to change the old decor...but it's still there.
Visited just prior to Christmas with a party of about 10. They sat us in a separate room which was FREEZING. Only about (2) steaks on the menu and neither very good. One was even served with cold mushrooms on top. Other food (ribs and seafood) was average at best. Except the Turkey soup which was very good (ghost of Christams past???).
Service was poor and unattentive, prices high and not reflective of quality. Hopefully it gets better fast as it should (location) have great potential.
If you go, dress warmly and good luck!
We dined here recently - and loved it. The cozy front room (with the fireplace) is still our favorite nook in the Chester/Mendham area. The new menu covers all price ranges - from $13 to $40. We stayed in the low $20's and enjoyed luscious lamb and splendidly sublime seafood - we'll save the steaks for another day. The service was very friendly and attentive (the one faux pas was dealt with laughter on both sides - learning pains). A great start - the bar made fancy martinis to our personal request - and a great finish - a cheese platter offered for dessert (hallelujah!) - with local artisan cheeses (double hallelujah!).
We ate at Larison's Steak House on 1/24 and what a disappointment.
One of our party fell on ice on the walk way and hurt their back. The management was notified, but didn't seem to care. they didn't even put salt or sand on the ice so no one else fell.
We had a table of 11 and it took over 2 1/2 hours before we received our dinners which 9 out of 11 were sent back to the kitchen because they were horrible. The service was slow, the management didn't seem to care that there were unhappy customers. I can't believe that the same people who own two terrific establishments own this place. We were so unhappy we wound up at Wendys after we left because only 3 people ate.
we will never return.
I don't understand. How hard is it to have a decent restaraunt there? I could do better and don't even have a degree and restaraunt management!
The food is really good, and the service is much better then most restarants. You can tell they are try to make you happy. I would definately recommend it!!!
Another couple met with us for dinner there a few Friday's ago, and I was definitely not impressed. The prices were high and the food and service were poor. We sent the bread back because it was stale and received another basketfull that was just as bad. The waiter didn't refill our water glasses or our coffee cups. The asparagus was hard, the filled potato had no potato, just filling, but the lobster was amazingly good. We won't go back again.
I have eaten there with family and held an event (83 people) at Larisons. They are truly a great and up and coming resturant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I have no complaints. People need to give them a second chance. You will not be disappointed
My wife and I frequently go to Larison's. The people who run the place are far friendlier than the ogres who ran Puddingstone. We are always seated right away, and if the waiter happens to be busy at times, the manager always appears and asks if he can gat us anything. My wife always has the sirloin steak, which is very good. I love their grilled salmon. My mother-in-law had the lobster salad and raved about it. The coffee we had was some of the best I've tasted recently, and the dessert was very good. One funny thing happened. My friend wanted to have wings with extra hot sauce, describing how hot he wanted it to be to the waiter. He kindly said he's go back and see to it. Ten minutes later, out came that hot sauce - just the hot sauce - no wings. It was a Seinfeld moment to be sure, but we all had a good laugh, and the error was quickly corrected. At any rate, we saw a few friends there, and we all decided to stay and listen to the music. It was exceptional. These two guys, Jay and Vern, played all kinds of songs from toe tappers to heart breaking ballads. The guitar playing was awesome, and the singing was great. We all stayed till the band stopped, and because the place was full, they played an extra half hour.
New places have growing pains, and I'm sure they have had their bad nights, but we have always enjoyed ourselves, and plan to be there this weekend.
We had the misfortune of spending mothers day at Larisons it was a disaster and the food was not edible! Knew they would not last, they are now out of business and closed, guess the Publick House is next! For God sakes put a bank or something on that corner so that no more poor suckers loose their shirts! By the way hope they've paid the help, they don'y like to do that so much.
Every freaking time we plan to check out the "new" restuarant in this location (Puddingstone Inn, Larison's Steak House) they are closed!! I'm beginning to think there is a curse on this location. Bring back the Turkey Farm. It seems it was the only viable restuarant!!
Liked it better when it was a turkey farm. Now i hear it's called King of Pudding oe something.
