The Over the Limit Under Arrest crackdown on drunken driving funded by the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety resulted in dozens of arrests and hundreds of summonses in the Morris County area.

The crackdown, which involves sobriety checkpoints or patrols, is funded through $6,000 grants available to municipal police departments.

In Mendham Township, police arrested 15 people during three separate checkpoints on Aug. 28 and Sept. 4-5. Ten motorists were charged with drunken driving, and five others were charged with possession of illegal drugs.
